It’s a constant challenge keeping on top of maintaining this fine old gem of a building. 400 years of Lakeland weather takes its toll! Most of our roof has now been re-slated, putting paid to the days of dashing round with buckets in every downpour, to catch the drips. We are always looking to upgrade the rooms and public areas, whilst keeping the character of the place intact. William Wordsworth, once our neighbour, would surely still recognise the historic interiors, whilst current visitors love the fine beers, fine food and fabulous staff.

Sincerest Apologies, we are only serving drinks today. Meals are not available until this evening (5.30pm—7.30pm). Unfortunately we are short of staff due to Covid notifications, please be patient as our remaining staff are all trying their best under difficult circumstances.

We are only serving Sunday Roasts this lunch time (until they sell out) - everyone is welcome. This evening we are only able to serve food to residents, although non-residents are more than welcome to join us for drinks. Due to the dreaded Ping we are, like many places, short staffed so please be patient with us whilst we are all trying our hardest. Anyone want a job?

We are very short of staff but we will be open for lunch and evening meals. Our menu will be shortened and we may not be able to take very many food orders, so it is first come, first served. We are trying our best, but the dreaded “Ping” has struck over half of our staff! Anyone want a job?

At last, something to feel positive about. The weather is warming up, the daffodils are emerging and most importantly, you will soon be able to buy a proper pint and travel beyond the end of your garden path. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back. Bookings are coming in fast now, including for our unique room-only offer from 12th April, and our B&B rooms are filling up for 17th May and beyond. We expect to be full right through the year now, so don't miss out, and make sure you book. See you soon!

You can book safe in the knowledge that should you be unable to visit because of Covid19, cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before arrival date and and your deposit can be used for a future visit. We have strict social distancing and cleanliness in place to ensure your visit is safe, and we can't wait to welcome you back.

1st February. We expect to remain closed for several more weeks, but it seems possible that we may be able to open around Easter, fingers crossed. You can book rooms direct on our website. You can book safe in the knowledge that we are happy to refund any deposits up until the date of your stay if we have to close or you cannot visit because of Covid restrictions. We have strict social distancing and cleanliness in place to ensure your visit is safe.

Cumbria will be tier 4. We will be closed from after breakfast on 31st December. Guests booked tonight, 30th, can still stay, but will have to leave on 31st morning. If you have a booking for the 31st and beyond, we can give you a refund for any deposit paid, or can hold your deposit for a future booking. Please send us an email info@theglenrothay.co.uk
