Spring is coming

Yes it is! We even saw the sun last week. We are open every day now, and the weekends have been busy. Our Sunday roasts are getting very popular, and rightly so. We hope to see you soon.
News
It’s a constant challenge keeping on top of maintaining this fine old gem of a building. 400 years of Lakeland weather takes its toll! Most of our roof has now been re-slated, putting paid to the days of dashing round with buckets in every downpour, to catch the drips. We are always looking to upgrade the rooms and public areas, whilst keeping the character of the place intact. William Wordsworth, once our neighbour, would surely still recognise the historic interiors, whilst current visitors love the fine beers, fine food and fabulous staff.

We are closed on a few weekdays this month. Closed: Sunday 8th Jan 4pm until Friday 13th noon. Open Friday lunch to Sunday lunch 13-15th Closed: Sunday 15th Jan 4pm until Friday 20th noon. Open as normal after 20th.
Happy New Year 2023

We are open until after midnight. Free entry. Food is served 5.30pm to 8pm. No reservations taken, just walk ins. New Year's Day Sunday roast 12-2.30pm, and evening 5.30-7.30 normal menu.

Christmas opening

Open every day until 3pm on Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas day, open as normal noon on 26th December until 8th January. We will be open late on New Year's Eve.
Winter opening

Badgercam

The fabulous BadgerCam is back on now. Our furry friends are coming out anytime after 9pm at the moment. See if you can spot them.
Autumn Colours

The leaves are turning, the evenings have a chill in the air and the Lakes are feeling a little bit calmer after the summer madness! Go for a good walk then venture into the cosy Badger Bar where the fires are lit, the food is good and hearty fare and the beer is even better.
