Essential repairs to the storm-damaged network in Rydal means no power for us 9am-4pm. We will be open but only for sandwiches and cold drinks. Cash only please. Back to normal by Thursday evening we hope.

It’s a constant challenge keeping on top of maintaining this fine old gem of a building. 400 years of Lakeland weather takes its toll! Most of our roof has now been re-slated, putting paid to the days of dashing round with buckets in every downpour, to catch the drips. We are always looking to upgrade the rooms and public areas, whilst keeping the character of the place intact. William Wordsworth, once our neighbour, would surely still recognise the historic interiors, whilst current visitors love the fine beers, fine food and fabulous staff.

Jingle Bells

Spend Christmas at our cosy country pub. Log fires, mulled wine, lovely rooms, festive food. There are still a few rooms left. Book a 3 night package or just B&B, or come for our hearty 3 course Christmas Dinner on the 25th. New Year stays also available.
Winter

Winter is here and the peaks will soon be covered with snow...... pop in for a pint or something to eat after a day out on the fells. Walkers and dogs more than welcome. Blazing open fires await.....Where better to be than in a cosy Lakeland pub? We have some fine ales on tap and hearty food to warm you up.

Valentine's Day

Romance is in the air! We have a sumptuous Valentine's menu featuring delicious sharing dishes, all served by candlelight in our romantic oak panelled dining room. Even better, we can offer you a great value stay as well: standard room plus meal for 2 just £170. We are open every day as usual! Food served daily between 12pm - 3pm and again 6pm - 9pm. You are welcome to just turn up but we always recommend booking a table........

The Badger Bar will be closed from 3pm on Thursday for the staff Christmas Party. Once a year we let the staff loose, you better watch out!
