It’s a constant challenge keeping on top of maintaining this fine old gem of a building. 400 years of Lakeland weather takes its toll! Most of our roof has now been re-slated, putting paid to the days of dashing round with buckets in every downpour, to catch the drips. We are always looking to upgrade the rooms and public areas, whilst keeping the character of the place intact. William Wordsworth, once our neighbour, would surely still recognise the historic interiors, whilst current visitors love the fine beers, fine food and fabulous staff.

Wed. 18th March 8pm Channel 4 Three in a bed. Features the Yurts at Rydal Hall, plus a meal here at the Badger Bar. No idea if we will appear on the show, but we hope so after they spent about 5 hours filming here.

The newly refurbished rooms are looking really smart now. And with all the woodork stripped in the bar that looks much better. Just wait till you see our men's loos, with their own rock feature!

Every night they come out to be fed in our grounds, and our guests love to watch. There have been 5 or 6 most nights this week, and a fox trying to sneak in as well for his supper.

New owners Paul and Eleanor Knowles are loving running this fabulous place. We took over in May and are making lots of little changes, trying to bring out the best in this fine old building.
