12th April - Our Beer Garden will be open for food and drink.
Food will be served 12-3 , 5.30 - 7.30 approx.
All orders will be table service and no entry is allowed into the building except to use the toilets or to pay.
Obviously the Cumbrian weather is not always ideal for al-fresco, so we will need to be flexible and may shut if the weather is very poor.
There are a few covered areas and we have bought lots of new seating, to give us a large capacity. Please do bear in mind that it is very labour intensive serving food and drink this way, and there may be delays at busy times.
Sorry, no reservations, it is first come, first served. No Sunday roast during this period.
17th May - You can come inside!
Food served 12 noon - 2.30pm & 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
Please send us an email with your table request for lunch (choose 12, 12.30, 1pm or 2pm) or evening meal (5.30pm, 6.30pm or 7.30pm)
We only have a few pet friendly dining tables, so please do tell us if you have a dog!
Reservations advised by email. firstname.lastname@example.org
Our menus will be shorter than usual for a while. We want to give the best service we can whilst having to work in different ways, and limiting food choices speeds our service up and helps us avoid waste. Our food is still home-made and our usual good quality.
A traditional inn serving good food
Snacks and pub classic meals, using locally sourced foods and seasonal ingredients. Nearly all our food is home-made - our microwave has a quiet life. We care about the quality, and our chefs and staff are proud to make and serve real food. Spend the afternoon in our large beer garden or come inside the 400 year old inn.
Bar Menu Noon - 3pm & 6 - 8.30pm.
For lunch: Sandwiches and soup, chips or a tasty homemade burger
Evening: Proper pies (not just stew with a puff pastry hat!), huge fish and chips, flavoursome burgers, all to ensure you go home satisfied. Nothing pretentious, just tasty pub classics, made with care. GF and veggie and vegan options are of course on the menu as well, because we are not stuck in the 1970’s either.
Sunday Roast noon - 3pm, or until sold out (which it often does)
“The best roast I have ever had in a pub” trip advisor review, March 2018.
We aim to serve the best pub roast in the area, and people certainly appreciate it.
Quality Cumbrian meats and good home-cooked trimmings.
