The Glen Rothay welcomes new owners

No stranger to the hospitality market, new owner of the Glen Rothay Paul Knowles has some grand plans for the Glen Rothay over the next few years.

Anyone who comes to the Lakes regularly will know of the Badger Bar, by the main road in the pretty little village of Rydal, and we have been past it numerous times, living nearby in Ambleside.  But rarely have we been in, lovely though it was, because it just looked a bit unloved, with a wonky sign, peeling paintwork, and potholes in the car park.  But then it came up for sale and we saw just what an amazing old building it is, what a stunning location with everything going for it as a business.  It didn’t take too much imagination to picture it as a fine country hotel and a traditional old Inn.  It is not too far off now, just in need of some TLC.  We never intended to buy a hotel, though we have run B&Bs before, but once we had investigated, then it really was too good an opportunity to pass.

Now we are finally in, it is living up to expectations, though there is a huge amount to do.  Its going to be a thrilling journey….
